in this time of environmental change and uncertainty, institutions of higher education play a vital role in helping the public meet the numerous challenges to sustainability. \u00a0many individuals and institutions have taken up this challenge, as evidenced by the development of organizations such as the association for the advancement of sustainability in higher education<\/strong><\/a> and initiatives like the us partnership for education for sustainable development<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 over the last decade, many universities have sought to encourage innovations in sustainability education by providing educators intensive workshop opportunities to (re)design courses with significant environmental or sustainability components.<\/p>\n

it is toward this goal that vanderbilt\u2019s program in american studies<\/strong><\/a> and the vanderbilt 2022年世界杯中国小组赛积分 are proud to announce the cumberland project<\/strong>. \u00a0modeled on emory university\u2019s piedmont project and northern arizona university\u2019s ponderosa project, the cumberland project is a two-day workshop on may 7th<\/strong> and 8th, 2012<\/strong> in which vanderbilt faculty engage in discussions and course design workshops with vanderbilt leaders in sustainability education.<\/p>\n

the project is intended as a launch for a continuing, vibrant teaching and learning community around sustainability themes in 2011-12 and beyond.\u00a0 particular emphasis will be placed on environmental education that is highly interdisciplinary in scope and inclusive of a wide array of environmental studies across the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. participants will receive a $500 stipend <\/strong>in research funds for their participation in the two-day workshop. view proposal requirements<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
