\"\"<\/a>cft teaching affiliate elizabeth weber, a graduate student in german, is facilitating a workshop on saturday, october 2nd, titled “teaching through hot points: navigating bodies in the classroom<\/strong>.” the workshop is part of the “bodies and oddities<\/a>” graduate student conference hosted by the department spanish & portuguese, but graduate students not involved in that conference are invited to attend elizabeth’s workshop.\u00a0 it will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 pm, and lunch will be provided.\u00a0 please rsvp to elizabeth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

a student makes a categorical assumption about affirmative action and black culture. a junior objects to reading “lolita” out of moral conviction. a freshman condemns homosexuals to hell.<\/p>\n

classroom dynamics can challenge even the most poised of instructors.<\/p>\n

graduate students from the bodies and oddities conference and the vanderbilt community will have the opportunity to draw on the conference panels and also their own experience. we will dialogue about what having bodies and opinions about them means for the classroom and learn about productive ways to navigate challenging situations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
