\"\"vanderbilt is a member of the center for the integration of research, teaching, and learning (cirtl) network<\/a>, a nsf-funded group of six universities working to prepare future science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (stem) faculty members to implement and advance best teaching practices.\u00a0 one of the cirtl network’s signature programs is the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education scholars (stemes) program<\/a>, a multi-day workshop on teaching practices for junior faculty members in those disciplines.\u00a0 the stemes program, now in its 14th year, actually pre-dates cirtl, but cirtl network campuses now host the event every may.\u00a0 vanderbilt hosted the program in 2009, and this year michigan state university takes a turn.<\/p>\n

the 2010 stemes program runs may 18-20 at msu.\u00a0 topics include course design, problem-based learning, assessment, and cooperative learning.\u00a0 program facilitators include experienced stem educators from across the cirtl network.\u00a0 applications are being accepted now.\u00a0 visit the 2010 stemes program web site<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n
