grading can be a source of stress for tas, especially at the beginning of your graduate career. this hands-on workshop will familiarize participants with a variety of grading strategies and address questions like \u2018what kind of feedback should you provide on student work, from essays to exams to oral presentations?\u2019 \u2018how do you know if you\u2019re being fair in your assessment?\u2019 \u2018what do you do when a student questions a grade?\u2019 \u2018which specific strategies can you use to grade problem sets?\u2019 and mostly, \u2018how will you find the time to grade all of them?\u2019<\/p>\n

these workshops focus on practical, concrete strategies for common teaching tasks, challenges, and opportunities.\u00a0 these sessions draw on research-based best practices from the literature on teaching and learning and help participants consider ways to apply those best practices in their teaching. teaching workshops are typically a mix of presentation, large group discussion, small group activities, and times for individual reflection.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
