welcome to laura carter-stone!
the cft is very proud to welcome laura carter-stone as our new postdoctoral fellow. laura carter-stone is an alumna of grinnell college and the university of kentucky, and received her phd in teaching, learning, and diversity with a specialization in language, literacy, and culture from peabody college, vanderbilt. after teaching in k-12 schools, she developed a commitment to equitable and culturally sustaining forms of instruction. among other topics, her research explores what teachers might learn from dramatic improvisers to design more engaging and cooperative forms of instruction. having taught a variety of undergraduate and masters-level courses, she is passionate about helping higher educators create effective and humanizing learning communities. in her free time, you can find laura reading, hosting netflix teleparties, hiking, and enjoying the local improv scene at third coast comedy club. we look forward to laura supporting the work of the cft in developing innovative programs and services that leverage her extensive expertise and many interests, especially for vanderbilt’s many graduate instructors. please join us in welcoming laura to the cft!

i was lucky to be a student in a teaching and improvisation class laura helped lead within peabody college last spring. laura creates joyful and engaging learning communities, and i’m glad to continue to collaborate with her.
