imagining america will hold a two day symposium on publicly active graduate education at 瑞士vs喀麦隆走地 on april 28th and 29th, 2011. the first day of the workshop – thursday, april 28th from 2 to 5pm – will be focused exclusively on professional development strategies for graduate students who are interested in civic engagement work.
thursday’s session on professional development will explore professional development strategies for graduate students. what does it mean to be a publicly engaged scholar? how can graduate students develop essential skills for engaged scholarship? what are the career opportunities for public scholarship within and outside the academy? (led by adam bush, national page director, imagining america).
the second day – friday, april 29th from 8:30am to 5pm – will address a wider audience (faculty, administrators, and graduate students) around campus initiatives and support for the training, professionalization, and funding of civically engaged graduate students. the regional meeting will offer the opportunity to work with ia leadership on this focused issue while also enabling regional collaboration and networking.
